Here are the details for your first DAM assignment:
At the beginning of next class, deliver between 50-75 images on a DVD that were:
• Ingested with Image Ingester Pro
• Renamed according to the naming setup discussed in class
• Bulk Keyworded on Ingestion
• Batch Captioned on Ingestion
• Copyright, Contact, Rights Usage Terms etc embedded
• Location information embedded,
then moved on to Bridge CS4 where they were:
• Rated & Labled
• Ratings & Labels backed up as keywords
• Further Keyworded (Higher Metadata for Individual High Value Images - ie 2+Star images)
• Best (1 to 2+Star - your choice) images Corrected in Camera RAW
• Converted to DNG with full size JPG preview
Only the Final DNG images need to be delivered, NOT YOUR ORIGINAL RAW FILES (NEF, CR2, etc). Images should be delivered on DVD - no exceptions will be made!

Josh, my Adobe Bridge program locked up on me during rating and viewing twice now. It became stuck in think mode for over an hour both times, so I had to hard boot my mac to get going again. Is this going to be a continued issue using Bridge or is there something I should look for to help? I am running 4GB ram.
ReplyDeleteI have some files that are in bridge that I cannot now see the images when I could before, all that shows up is a CR2 folder and all the metadata. The only thing that's changed is uploading the premiere pro and updating all the Adobe files. Most of the other images can be viewed okay yet some don't. They will open in ACR or Photoshop just fine, so I know they are there. Is there anything I can do to change the view so all images can be viewed in Bridge and do you have any idea what I may have done to create this?
ReplyDeleteHi (Name?),
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I have heard of an issue like this with Bridge - Have you updated your Adobe Software recently? If not, run the "Adobe Updater" to ensure you have the latest version of Bridge. If you are still experiencing issues after updating, I'd suggest contacting Adobe support to see if they can help.
Josh
@Mike-
ReplyDeleteHave you tried purging the cache in Bridge for the images or folders you are having issues with? Go to Tools>Cache>Purge Cache for Folder XXXX, or go the to Bridge Preferences, then Cache, and click "Purge Cache". This solves 95% of the type of issue you're describing.
Josh
Hey, Josh
ReplyDeleteI've been having the same image as mike, I've tried the Purge tool like you suggested,yet it is still isn't allowing me to open up the photo's, do you have any other suggestions?
thanks
D
@D (Name?),
ReplyDeleteCan you describe the issue in detail? I am having trouble following exactly what can't see what.
Can you see the items in Bridge? (Make sure you aren't "Filtering" your images).
If you can't see them in Bridge, how are you opening them into Photoshop? Via Finder?
More info would be helpful!
FYI, I'll be around on my lunch break tomorrow in the computer lab to address any issues people are having.
Cheers, Josh
Josh, the Photo's show up in Bridge as the Canon CR2 Template and not the photo of what the the image is. I did update and tried again and some images turned into photo's and some did not. When I purged the cache however, the program became faster and all the photo's showed up again. It appears to me that the purging cache will have to be done after every ingestion to help keep Bridge running smoothly. Thanks Josh.
ReplyDeleteHi Josh,
ReplyDeleteI've forgotten how to save to DNG and save File as a Full JPEG. I can't remember if I have to export them to photoshop then convert or what?? Any direction would be great.
Sorry and thanks.
@Mike-
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're back on track. You shouldn't need to deal with the cache very often - only in instances like this where you've had an issue and need to rebuild your thumbnails.
FYI to the rest of you, issues with thumbnails not showing up are usually related to not having a current version of the "Camera RAW" plugin installed. Make sure to go to Adobe.com and download and install the latest version of the plugin, then restart Bridge and purge the cache for the images you were having trouble with.
Cheers, Josh

ReplyDeleteFrom Bridge, select all images, open them in ACR (File>Open in Camera RAW), then select all again in ACR, click "Save Images..." in the lower left corner, the choose where to save them. The options for the included JPG are here.
Cheers, Josh
I was wondering if there is going to be a chance to redo this assignment? Myself and a couple other people had miss read your instructions. Thinking that you wanted only our final rated pictures on the disc and not all 50?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous (Name?)-
ReplyDeleteThere will be an opportunity for re-do's - I will post details after I have completed marking the final assignments which will be by the end of this week.
Cheers, Josh
